The surge of migrant families crossing the southern border is overwhelming a bus station and aid organizations in San Antonio. The San Antonio Express-News reports city shelters have run out of space for the hundreds of people U.S. authorities are releasing from family detention centers around the city and on the border. The influx of people to San Antonio and other cities comes after U.S. officials announced so many families and children are entering the country from Mexico that they will be immediately released instead of transferred to immigration officers. Border agents are on track to make 100,000 arrests and denials of entry at the southern border this month. A San Antonio aid worker, Sister Denise LaRock, told the Express-News local nonprofits lack the infrastructure to help everyone.

Making good on a longstanding threat, President Donald Trump moved this weekend to cut direct aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, whose citizens are fleeing north and overwhelming U.S. resources at the southern border — including as part of organized caravans that the White House has warned may eventually lead to the closure of the entire southern border with Mexico. The move comes just days after Mexican Interior Secretary Olga Sanchez Cordero warned ominously that “the mother of all caravans” could be coming soon from the three nations. “We have information that a new caravan is forming in Honduras, that they’re calling ‘the mother of all caravans,’ and they are thinking it could have more than 20,000 people,” Sanchez Cordero said on Wednesday. A much smaller group of approximately 40 migrants left over the weekend, and a separate caravan of nearly 2,500 is currently making its way through Mexico.

In a speech to over 1000 supporters, O’Rourke drew a sharp contrast between his immigration policies and those of President Donald Trump, extolling the virtues of increased immigration and diversity as a unifying force. “With Ciudad Juarez we form the largest binational community in this hemisphere. And for 20 years running, we’ve been one of the safest cities in the United States of America,” the El Paso native declared. “We are safe not despite the fact that we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers. We are safe because we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers.”

Lots of political “experts” were yucking it up for months after Donald Trump announced his bid for the GOP presidential nomination in the summer of 2015. 

But after he won the GOP nomination, the yucking stopped and the predictions began: There was no way he would win the presidency. No way he would beat the anointed one, the first “Madam President,” Hillary Clinton.

It was his style, most said. His gruff demeanor. His plain-spoken nature. His “America first” nativism. Oh, and of course, his ‘crazy’ talk. 

Like this one. 

During one of his debates with Clinton, the subject turned to abortion and, specifically, late-term abortions. Very late. 

Legalizing infanticide just like Trump said

“If you go with what Hillary is saying, in the ninth month you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of that baby,” the GOP nominee told NBC News moderator Lester Holt Sept. 26, 2016. “You can say that’s okay, and Hillary can say that’s okay, but it’s not okay with me. 

“Because based on what she’s saying, and based on where she’s going and where she’s been, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month – on the final day, and that’s not acceptable,” he added.

After being mocked for that statement, guess what happened in Clinton’s adopted home state of New York last week? That’s right: Legislation was passed and signed into law allowing physicians (and even non-physicians) to ‘rip babies from the mother’s womb just prior to birth’ and kill them, using an overly broad “health” exception for third-term abortions. (Related: New York Democrats just legalized murdering children who survive failed abortions… pure EVIL.)

And, as if that isn’t bad enough, a lawmaker in Virginia has now introduced similar legislation, and with Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s blessing.

The party of the donkey has gone rogue. They abhor guns because they kill but then empower doctors to murder babies.  

Priorities, you understand.

Late-term abortion, which the news media also refers to as partial-birth abortion, generally refers to any intentional abortion procedure occurring after 20 weeks of gestation. The point that experts consider pregnancy to be late-term is one of the biggest debates involving this subject. Some experts believe that 12 weeks and later is late term, others state 16 weeks, 20 weeks or even later. A common belief is that any abortion where the child has a viable chance to survive out of the womb is certainly a late term abortion. The problem with this theory is that it varies widely from one pregnancy to another.

Late Term Abortion Laws

Countries around the world have different laws regarding late-term abortions. Canada, for instance, has no law regarding the gestational age of the child and when abortions can be performed. Of the 152 countries with records on hand, the following observations can be made:

• 54 of these countries ban abortion except in cases where the mother's life is at risk
• 44 countries ban late term abortion after a certain gestational age
• 2 countries (The Netherlands and The United States) have regulations in place having to do with viability.
• The remaining 52 countries, including Canada, have no laws regarding gestational age and abortion.

Late last night, failed Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke confirmed to El Paso’s KTSM that he’s seeking the Democratic presidential nomination. This morning, he added a video to the mix, and Twitter exploded with furry jokes and fanfare (the way politics should be?). This is all on the coattails of an obnoxiously fawning Vanity Fair profile that basically portrayed O’Rourke as the dream Gen Xer, heaping praise on his “floor-to-ceiling bookshelf [that] contains a section for rock memoirs (Bob Dylan’s Chronicles, a favorite) and a stack of LPs (the Clash, Nina Simone)” before showing off his intellectual side: a “sizable collection of presidential biographies, including Robert Caro’s work on Lyndon B. Johnson.” If the Dylan-LBJ mix wasn’t enough for you, Vanity Fair also waxed poetic about O’Rourke’s age: “Whereas Obama is from the tail end of the baby boom, Beto O’Rourke is quintessentially Generation X, weaned on Star Wars and punk rock and priding himself on authenticity over showmanship and a healthy skepticism of the mainstream.”
